Our Chiropractic Philosophy
A Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) recognizes many factors that affect your health, including exercise, stress level, sleep, heredity and the environment. Chiropractic focuses on maintaining your health naturally to help your body resist disease, rather than simply treating the symptoms of disease. Your body holds the potential to help heal its self naturally and chiropractic helps to ensure that your body is able to use this power by focusing on the nervous system.
Doctors of Chiropractic will naturally and gently treat the spinal subluxaiton with an adjustment. A spinal subluxation is where the bones of the spine (vertebra) are not moving as they should and are not properly aligned. This leads to abnormal movement patterns and failure to function normally. An adjustment is a gentle force that in applied to the spine by the doctor using their hands or an instrument called an Activator http://www.activator.com. Dr. Tara Osterholz, Dr. Lindsey Reitzner and Dr. Bailey Redfearn are well versed in many different techniques and will implement a combination of techniques that will work best for your individual situation.
Your nervous system is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and all the nerves that communicate with every single cell in your body. When this important communication from the brain to the nerves is interrupted, the body is unable to function at its full potential. This can cause all sorts of aliments, such as pain, numbness/tingling, headaches, ear infections, asthma, high blood pressure and reflux to name a few. Communication is interrupted when the bones of the spine are mal-positioned or not moving properly. The objective of the chiropractic adjustment is to reduce the subluxation, which results in an increased range of motion, reduced nerve irritability, reduced muscle spasm, reduced pain and improved function. The body then will have the ability to heal its self naturally after these interferences are removed. Of course proper nutrition is also essential for they body to function at its optimal capacity and can have a profound affect on the healing process.
